Research Scientist, Neuroscience
Hopewell Therapeutics is discovering, synthesizing, and developing the next generation of tissue-targeted lipid nanoparticles (ttLNPs) to bring genomic medicines to patients. We’re pursuing opportunities to redefine the non-viral delivery space for novel genomic medicines by designing systemically administered LNPs to specifically target extrahepatic tissues and cells throughout the body. Hopewell has built a robust intellectual property portfolio with an expansive library of ionizable lipids and has established partnerships with several industry-leading companies. We’re developing our own internal pipeline, initially targeting diseases of the lung, while concurrently exploring the potential of our ttLNP platform for patients with unmet needs in oncology, infectious diseases, rare genetic diseases, and neurological disorders.
Position Overview
Hopewell is seeking a full-time postdoctoral research scientist in Neuroscience or Neurobiology. This individual will work with the lipid chemistry and LNP process development team to develop LNP delivery technology encapsulating therapeutic cargoes to treat various neurodegenerative diseases. The individual is expected to work well in a fast-paced, collaborative cross-disciplinary start-up biotech environment.
Primary Responsibilities
-
You will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing animal experiments to support the development of LNP delivery with various cargoes crossing BBB via systemic injection, or delivery of therapeutic cargos in the desired regions or cell types through local injections such as ICV.
-
He or she will be working with an internal team and external CROs for downstream analysis, including biomedical imaging, pathology, and bioanalytical analysis.
-
Studies will include small animal brain characterization, biodistribution, disease model development, drug efficacy, and toxicology-like studies in neurology.
-
This position will provide an opportunity for growth and exposure to cutting-edge research projects.
Qualifications and Key Competencies
-
Ph.D. with 1-3 years experience in neuroscience or neurobiology with animal handling and brain histology experience
-
Have hands-on experience working with brain tissue dissection, histology (IF, FISH), imaging, and protein characterization. Working knowledge of organ physiology and cell biology in the mammalian CNS.
-
The qualified candidate should have considerable experience in systematic or local injection, brain and tissue collection, molecular analysis, and downstream analysis (RT-qPCR, western blot, ELISA, bDNA quantification and IHC).
-
Ability to work in the lab independently and in collaborative efforts with internal in vitro/ex vivo and in vivo groups, as well as external contractors as necessary (CROs, academics).
-
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and results-driven with multi-tasking skills
-
Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.
